Our Values
In catalyzing LGBTQIA+ health research, how we do our work is as important to us as what we do.
We develop give-and-take relationships.
As participants, we want you to benefit from the studies as much as our projects benefit from your input.
-
One way we embody this value is by ensuring participants receive updates on findings of the research they contributed to, which can often help improve their lives and serve the communities they are part of.
We recognize complex identities and communities.
We respect that many of you belong to multiple communities and hold many identities.
-
One way we embody this value is by ensuring our Community Partner Consortium, Participant Advisory Committee, and Ambassadors reflect the diversity of our LGBTQIA+ community in terms of gender identity, race and ethnicity, age, geographic region, ability, and more.
We create equity.
Each of our communities have unique health experiences and face different barriers. Our goal is to work with you in the most appropriate way and not in the same way.
-
One way we embody this value is by meeting communities where they are, both virtually and in-person. We travel across the country and participate in different health and social events to reach a diverse range of community members, host online events to create opportunities to discuss health and research topics, and deliver presentations and educational workshops for organizations that are tailored to their community’s interests.
We create transparency.
We strive to communicate openly and clearly so you know what we are up to.
-
One way we embody this value is through our communications efforts, and providing public updates about our work through our social media channels, PRIDEnet newsletter, and the PRIDEnet blog.
